It all started here. for 50 years and counting watching the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre can still be a jarring experience. Debuting one year after The Exorcist, when it seemed horror was going to go mainstream, this grimy independent movie came out of nowhere and reminded everyone that horror can be just visceral on a shoestring budget.
