About Us

Who are we?

Greetings! We are Kaddie Sharpe and Nick Iammatteo, and The Emporium is our Frankenstein creation... minus the late nights spent gravedigging for spare parts. We only do that when we need new jewelry, and exercise.

We are both lifelong horror fans who have attended dozens of conventions, watched more horror movies than we can count, and celebrate Halloween all year long with our home decor and constant praying to the weather gods to just make it feel like autumn all year long.

What do we do?

For starters we are curators of all types of spooky goods. For years we’ve attended horror conventions, traveled to different cities, and digging through the bowels of the internet to look for stuff that we loved, and for the longest time we were just doing it for fun.

But then one day inspiration hit, and we thought “why not bring our love of all things spooky and horror to a place we love dearly?”

This doesn't mean just opening a horror shop. We share our love by also hosting film screenings all around towns outside of Bangor, attending conventions, and getting involved with the our community.

Pantheon of horror; Bangor, and most of Maine too.

Okay, let's talk about a certain author in the real quick. Bangor is the (former) home of Stephen King, the man/myth/legend that has written countless classic horror novels, that have in turn spawned so, so, so many horror movies, TV mini series, comic books, and even the occasional stage play. He is a genre onto himself, and in this massive body of work the state of Maine has played a huge role.

Maine, and Bangor in particular, is King's muse. Bangor is essentially Derry, the infamous town where It, Insomnia, Bag of Bones and many more stories take place. King single handedly put Maine on the modern day horror map, and continued the tradition begun by H.P. Lovecraft of turning New England into one of the best backdrops of the horror genre.
